As a preservice teacher education textbook, this Pearson title does something genuinely useful — it integrates mathematics more deeply than comparable early childhood science texts and provides over 100 activities aligned to national standards. But the 2009 publication date means some standards references are now outdated, there are no independent reviews to gauge how well the pedagogy actually works in classrooms, and the audience is sharply limited to education students and faculty. General readers and parents have no reason to pick this up.
