Warm and personally felt, with the kind of intergenerational affection that makes a solid gift for grandparents. The short-story format works well for read-aloud sessions, and the voice is authentic. But without trade attention or independent critical signals, it is hard to know how well the storytelling actually holds up, and the series' tonal shift in later volumes hints at some inconsistency of vision.
