From the Stone Age to the Space Age

This is a perfectly serviceable illustrated children's history encyclopedia that covers a sweeping range of human civilization in an accessible middle-grade format, and the Anness visual production style is a genuine strength. The problem is breadth without depth — a 264-page book spanning all of human history necessarily skims each civilization — and a 2003 publication date means some content is genuinely dated. Worth a look if you find it in a school library, but not a compelling purchase.
