The image of a classroom with the sea reflected on its walls is genuinely lovely, and the gentle teacher-student bond at the center of this story gives early readers something warm to carry home. At 32 pages in a leveled-reader format, though, there isn't much room for a story to breathe, and the English translation lacks documented reception to confirm it captured the original's lyrical French quality. A pleasant classroom read but not a standout among picture books for this age group.
