Ghosts Don't Get Goosebumps

Elvira Woodruff earns the praise reviewers gave this one: the sibling bond at the center is genuinely moving, and the careful, compassionate handling of selective mutism and mental illness is better than most middle-grade of its era. The ghost premise is mild enough that parents wary of scary content need not worry — and mild enough that readers expecting actual chills may want to look elsewhere. For the right reader, though, this is a warm and well-crafted summer adventure.
