Children's ✦ Penny’s Take

A classroom workhorse from a publisher that knew how to reach struggling secondary readers — leveled, structured, with strong teacher support built in. As a textbook it served its purpose well, and wide school adoption confirms that. But 1999 content selections are now quite dated, there's no meaningful critical review record, and this has essentially no value outside a classroom adoption context. A textbook is not a trade book, and scoring it as one is a mismatch.
