Children's β¦ Penny’s Take
Happy Birthday, Danny and the Dinosaur!
Syd Hoff Β· 1997
76/100
π Worth It
Syd Hoff's gentle dinosaur and his boy friend remain an enduringly charming pair, and wrapping their friendship around a birthday party gives early readers a familiar, joyful context to practice their skills. The story is barely a story β more a warm vignette with a party hat on β but at Level 1 that's exactly right, and the classic illustration style holds up beautifully. A reliable gift for any kindergartner who's learning to read.
