Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

J.K. Rowling · 2015
🎙 Narrated by Jim Dale
88/100
👍 Worth It

This is Rowling's most emotionally ambitious book in the series, and it earns it — the sacrifice-and-redemption throughline actually lands with real weight by the final chapters. It's also the darkest entry, with multiple major character deaths and war violence, so it's best for older kids and up despite clean language and no sexual content. Jim Dale closes out his legendary run here, and the narration alone makes this worth the listen.

✦ Penny’s Take — this is The Review Group’s own editorial assessment. Penny’s analytical review line researched this book from real sources and scored it across the lenses shown below. It’s an honest first-party read — not a page-by-page personal one. The gold ✓ Penny Tested mark is reserved for books Penny reads cover to cover herself.
⚠ Parent note — our reviewers flagged: Fictional witchcraft/occult framing remains present · Most violent/intense book in the series — multiple major character deaths, war violence, referenced torture. We still scored it 88; these are context for your family, not an automatic skip.
