Kingsley genuinely knew his Greek mythology and set out to teach courage and virtue through it, which is a noble aim, and it's free and easy to find. The Victorian prose is a slog by modern standards though, and the Christian moralizing laid over pagan myth strikes even sympathetic reviewers as an awkward fit — bring an adult along to guide the conversation.
