The crime-family fairy-tale concept is genuinely inventive and Bloomsbury backed it with clear confidence, but the execution has real problems: a slow, passive protagonist for the first half, an insta-love romance that multiple reviewers found unconvincing, and a disability portrayal (ITP) that disability advocates consistently call exaggerated and inaccurate. The suspense and plot surprises are real, but the craft weaknesses and accuracy flag hold the final score back.
