This Ukrainian middle-grade adventure has a charming cross-cultural premise and a genuine friendship-across-difference theme that's worth celebrating. The problem is that English-language readers have almost no way to evaluate the translation quality or find critical reviews, which makes it a risky buy outside the Ukrainian diaspora community.
