The silly, goofy monsters here are clearly playing for laughs rather than scares, and the award-winning illustrator brings real visual energy. What holds this back is the thinness of the narrative beyond the flap reveals and very limited critical documentation, making it hard to assess how well it holds up over time. A decent pick for monster-loving toddlers, but not a standout when stronger counting books with richer stories exist.
