A delightful little wordplay book built around homophones — words that sound alike but mean different things — and it earns its Kirkus starred review and Junior Library Guild selection. Serge Bloch's spare, funny illustrations carry a lot of the charm, and the guessing-game format makes it genuinely interactive for early readers. It is slim at 14 word pairs, but for a child just discovering that language can be playful and surprising, this is a lovely entry point.
