Nino the platypus has a sweet heart, and the bilingual edition is a genuine plus for multicultural families. But the magic-genie-reveals-you-had-it-all-along arc is one of the most well-worn paths in picture-book confidence literature, and without trade review backing it is hard to know whether the execution rises above the concept. Worth a look if you spot it at the library, but not a must-buy.
