Kaplan is a trustworthy brand and the coverage of phonics through study skills is genuinely comprehensive for its target age range. The problem is that this workbook is now over twenty-five years old, and reading pedagogy has moved on — parents would be better served by a current curriculum-aligned resource. Completely safe and well-intentioned, but the age of the material is a real concern for anyone using it as a primary learning tool.
