Eighteen true stories of young people who acted with real bravery — ALA's Best of the Best endorsement is well-earned, and the writing is accessible enough to pull in reluctant readers. Some stories touch on abuse, death, and addiction, so a quick parent-and-child read-together works better than handing it to a ten-year-old solo. The 30-year age of the content does show in places, but courage stories don't really expire.
