The story selection is excellent — Rapunzel, Aesop, Paul Bunyan — and the listen-read-practice model is genuinely effective for second-grade literacy. The real problem is the CD: most families no longer have a CD player, which turns this into a book-only purchase at a workbook price point. If you can play the audio, it's a fine classroom supplement; if you can't, you're paying for half a product.
