As a classroom leveled reader this does exactly what it is designed to do — provide developmentally appropriate text at a targeted reading level with a topic kids enjoy. As a standalone book recommendation it is a limited proposition: curriculum titles rarely have the literary texture that makes them worth seeking out beyond a structured reading program.
