π Worth It
The Rookie Biography format is a workhorse of the elementary library for good reason, and Madam C.J. Walker is one of the most compelling subjects it could be applied to β a woman who overcame poverty, racism, and widowhood to become a self-made millionaire and business pioneer. At 46 pages it is a starting point rather than a full account, but as a first introduction for a six-to-ten-year-old it does exactly what it should. A reliable classroom and library staple.
