As a first book to place in a newborn's hands, this does what it needs to do beautifully — the lullaby rhythm is genuinely soothing, and Simone Shin's illustration background is the real deal. The nature-metaphor premise is not new territory, and there is no narrative to speak of, but for a board book aimed at zero-to-two that is more feature than flaw. A sweet gift for a new baby.
