The space-school-run-by-villains premise is a solid hook and Blake Hoena keeps the pages turning for transitional readers who need a win. As a leveled classroom reader it does its job, but the characterization is thin and there is no meaningful critical reception to validate it beyond its role in the Engage Literacy program.
