Meesha Makes Friends

Tom Percival's picture book follows Meesha, a child who experiences the world through synesthesia — numbers have colors, sounds have shapes — and struggles to connect with other kids. The grayscale-to-color design does real work in externalizing Meesha's inner experience, and Kirkus praised it for helping children articulate difficult feelings.
