A functional early reader that does what the series asks of it — relatable sibling conflict, rhyming text for phonics practice, warm resolution — but doesn't rise above that baseline. The photo-based format feels dated, and the narrative is thin enough that it's essentially a phonics vehicle wearing a story costume. Fine as a classroom supplemental reader but not a book to seek out.
