For teaching the 'd' sound to a four-year-old, this 50-year phonics series does its job reliably with rebus icons and word lists built for exactly that purpose. But there is essentially no creative or narrative content here β it is a phonics drill in book form, and a teacher or parent can find equivalent resources freely. The educational function is real; the value as a 'book' is not.
