Nan Sherwood is a charming piece of early girl-adventure history, and the wholesome values of friendship and helping others hold up fine. But this is a 1916 book reprinted for nostalgia readers, and modern children without a specific interest in classic American series literature will likely find the pacing slow and the social assumptions dated. Project Gutenberg has the text free, which matters when evaluating whether to spend money on a reprint edition.
