Nightmares of Weirdwood

William Shivering · 2022
77/100
👍 Worth It

Christian McKay Heidicker built something genuinely inventive with the Weirdwood trilogy — a Real-versus-Imaginary border that functions as both plot engine and metaphor, with humor and heart woven through the action. This final volume goes darker and drops some of the lightness that made the earlier books so fun, but Kirkus still called it a satisfying conclusion and the character work holds. Parents sensitive to fantasy-occult worldbuilding should know what they're getting into, but for middle-grade fantasy fans this series delivers.
