Kirkus called it adorable, and the warm pastel illustrations do a nice job capturing the sting of watching your best friend make a new one. Jennifer Plecas handles the emotional beat with genuine tenderness and keeps it age-appropriate all the way through. The theme is well-worn picture-book territory, though, and families with a solid library of friendship books may not need another one on the shelf.
