The count-up and count-back structure is a smart design choice for reinforcing numeracy, and jungle animals remain perennially appealing to toddlers. But this is a small-press 1997 title with almost no critical footprint and no distinguishing features that put it ahead of the many well-reviewed counting books available for the 2–4 age group. Fine if it crosses your path; not worth specifically seeking out.
