👍 Worth It

This joyful 32-page picture book follows a child and their Bābā through the warm rituals of Lunar New Year — hanging red lanterns, cooking eight-treasure rice, sweeping the house clean for good things to come. Rebecca Lim writes from the inside of the tradition, and Cai Tse's illustrations are vibrant and culturally grounded. The intergenerational conversation is the heart of it: a child learning that millions of people around the world have shared these celebrations for thousands of years. The honest caveat is that at 32 pages there isn't room to go deep on any single custom. But as a joyful, accessible introduction for ages 3–7, especially around Lunar New Year, this one earns its place on the shelf. Worth It.
