Party Poppers

The intergenerational storyline — a group of friends throwing a 100th birthday party for a woman they've just met — is genuinely charming and not the kind of theme you see much in early chapter books. The light prose and quick pacing suit newly independent readers well. Without meaningful independent critical coverage and with a fairly formulaic series structure, it sits comfortably in the middle of the pack rather than rising above it.
