A lively, high-energy manga entry point for young Pokémon fans, with positive themes of friendship and perseverance woven into the adventure — VizKids positioned it well for the 8–12 crowd and the series delivers on that promise. Jumping in at Volume 5 isn't ideal, and readers who aren't already fans of the franchise will get less out of it, but for its audience it's a fun, wholesome read.
