Quackenstein is a charming picture book that wraps a tender adoption story inside spooky monster-movie humor and expert Dr. Seuss-style rhymes — Kirkus loved it, and kids in the 3-to-8 range will too. The one honest caution is that the premise (a monster repeatedly rejecting eggs) could sting for families personally touched by adoption challenges, so parents should preview it first.
