This 1977 picture book has a warm heart and charming illustrations by Lorinda Bryan Cauley, but Kirkus found it sappy and noted that the repetitive rejection-loop plot does not add up to much narrative substance. It is gentle and entirely family-safe, but with decades of stronger picture books now available on the same home-and-belonging theme, this one is a pleasant curiosity rather than a must-read.
