Perfection Learning's Retold Classics series has earned its place in school reading programs by making foundational literature accessible to struggling and English-language learners, and this adaptation preserves the core of Dickens's sacrifice-and-redemption story. The trade-off is inherent to all adaptations β the simplification is the point, which means capable readers are better served by the original. A useful classroom tool, but not a book most families need to own.
