Children's β¦ Penny’s Take
Rhymes with Claire
Chad J. Thompson Β· 2019
74/100
π Worth It
Thompson's Otto books are a genuinely fun vehicle for phonological awareness, and a Disney animator's illustration chops give this book a visual energy most picture books cannot match. The rhyming chaos is funny and the school setting gives it a natural read-aloud moment. Best enjoyed after reading Rhymes with Doug first, and the thin plot may not hold up to heavy repeat reading β but as a classroom phonics supplement and a giggle-inducing read-aloud, it delivers.
β¦ Penny’s Take β this is The Review Group’s own editorial assessment. Penny’s analytical review line researched this book from real sources and scored it across the lenses shown below. It’s an honest first-party read β not a page-by-page personal one. The gold β Penny Tested mark is reserved for books Penny reads cover to cover herself.
