Molly Randall is a likeable, courageous protagonist and the Revolutionary War setting gives this horse story more backbone than most in the genre. At 128 pages the depth is limited and the series formula shows, but for a girl who loves horses and wants a short historical adventure, this hits its marks cleanly.
