Shadow Siblings fills a real gap — the typically-developing sibling's emotional experience is genuinely underrepresented in children's literature, and the authentic family origin story gives the book credibility. The discussion questions make it a useful classroom or therapy tool. But the narrative is thin, and the 'shadow' framing has drawn at least some reader concern that it reinforces a secondary-role dynamic rather than fully empowering the sibling. Worth considering for a specific therapeutic or educational purpose; less compelling as a standalone picture book.
