Sky-Jam puts a young reader in the middle of a basketball championship push with the pressure-decision framing that CYOA does best, and it is squarely on-target for its grades 4-6 audience. At 116 pages and gamebook format, the experience is genuinely brief, the characters are functional rather than memorable, and there is no thematic substance beyond the immediate game stakes. A fine library borrow for a basketball-obsessed kid, but there is nothing here that competes with a real middle-grade sports novel for lasting impact.
