Sojourner Truth

The subject matter is important and the Lexile level is appropriate, but the brief format keeps this firmly in the category of introductory classroom tool rather than a book that leaves a lasting impression. It does the biographical basics competently and handles difficult history with appropriate care for the age group, but the lack of depth and the absence of any notable critical recognition make it a second-shelf choice behind stronger middle-grade biographies of Truth. Fine for a school unit; not a standout.
