Space Dog Jack is a cheerful, well-intentioned early reader that does exactly what it sets out to do — give kindergarteners a manageable, imaginative story. The space-plus-Halloween concept is fun, and the friendship between Jack and Bob is warm. But the dossier is thin on specifics, the plot is minimal by design, and limited availability makes it hard to recommend over stronger titles in the genre.
