Spaced Out is a well-assembled anthology that earns classroom and home-shelf space by covering genuine poetic range — shape poems, haiku, kennings, free verse — all wrapped around the endlessly appealing subject of space. The editors know what children actually respond to, and the Apollo 50th-anniversary framing gives it cultural grounding. Some individual poems are stronger than others as is always true of anthologies, and North American distribution is limited, but for a poetry-curious family or teacher this is a genuinely useful and enjoyable collection.
