Squeak, the Dinosaur

The premise — boy finds egg, hatches dinosaur, must eventually let it go — is genuinely warm, and the resolution has real emotional honesty for a book aimed at young readers. But this is a 1987 rarity with dated illustrations, almost no critical footprint, and very thin documentation, which makes recommending it over newer titles difficult. Worth a read if it falls into your hands, but not worth hunting down.
