Children's ✦ Penny’s Take
Stories From Plato and Other Classic Writers

👍 Worth It
Mary Elizabeth Burt's 1894 anthology remains one of the better-curated gateways to classical literature for young readers — drawing from Homer, Plato, Hesiod, Ovid, and Pliny in a register genuinely aimed at children. The Yesterday's Classics reprint serves a real need in classical and homeschool communities. Polytheistic mythology throughout means faith-conservative families will want to read alongside their children and provide framing, but the material itself is adapted thoughtfully.
