π Skip It
A light middle-grade mystery with an atmospheric European castle setting that is perfectly age-appropriate but leans hard on familiar ghost-story conventions without delivering much surprise or character growth. Out of print and obscure, it reads as a pleasant enough genre exercise for 8β12 readers rather than something worth seeking out. The entertainment value is modest and the reach is very limited.
β¦ Penny’s Take β this is The Review Group’s own editorial assessment. Penny’s analytical review line researched this book from real sources and scored it across the lenses shown below. It’s an honest first-party read β not a page-by-page personal one. The gold β Penny Tested mark is reserved for books Penny reads cover to cover herself.
β Parent note β our reviewers flagged: ghost-story element (light paranormal mystery framing, not occult). We still scored it 48; these are context for your family, not an automatic skip.
