A warm small-press middle-grade with a lovely metamorphosis metaphor and a genuinely gentle treatment of grief. The problem is that it is genuinely hard to find, carries no notable illustration work, and has generated almost no professional visibility in over two decades — which makes it difficult to recommend over more accessible titles covering the same ground. A hidden gem for the right classroom, but not an easy find.
