Children's ✦ Penny’s Take
The Adventures of Laura and Jack
Laura Ingalls Wilder · 1998
80/100
👍 Worth It
A well-executed authorized adaptation that genuinely delivers the warmth of Wilder's pioneer world to early chapter book readers — the dog-and-child friendship at the center is universally appealing and the frontier peril is handled at exactly the right level for the age. It will feel thin to anyone already familiar with the full novels, but as a gateway to Wilder for 6-to-8-year-olds it is exactly what it needs to be.
