A perfectly serviceable entry in the Big Chapter Books line that handles jealousy and the character-over-wealth lesson with the gentle warmth you expect from the Bears. It works best for kids just making the jump from picture books who already love the characters β but the plot is thin even by chapter-book standards and the romance setup feels a little dated. Loyal fans of Bear Country will enjoy it; it's not a standout for newcomers.
