The embedded codes that readers can actually solve are a genuinely clever hook, and the bumbling-spy comedy keeps the tone light and fun for middle-grade readers. It's fully family-safe and easy to read. The catch is that it's been out of print since 1988, professional coverage is essentially nonexistent, and the characterisation is as thin as the series format allowed. A fine find if you stumble across it at a library sale, but not worth hunting down.
