Children's β¦ Penny’s Take

π Worth It
This little Robin Hill School entry nails its one job: helping a young child feel okay about leaving the dog (and everything else they love) behind on the first day. The vocabulary is perfectly calibrated for a beginning reader, and the reassuring payoff lands without being saccharine. It's slender on plot, but as a back-to-school comfort read it earns its place on the nightstand.
