The History of Huntington Beach

This is a perfectly competent leveled reader for California classrooms — the primary source photos and maps are a genuine plus, and the vocabulary is appropriately calibrated for early elementary students. But the geographic focus is so narrow that almost no reader outside Southern California will find it relevant, and without any independent critical reviews there's no way to judge how well it holds up against comparable local history texts. A fine classroom tool for Huntington Beach schools; a hard sell anywhere else.
